They are Korean, and have been for sale in Britain and Europe for a long time.  Used to be not really good stuff, but that may have changed.  Maybe they could change their noame to something like "Firestone"...

BTW, Discount Tires carries Hankook. The stranger name, IMHO, is the Finnish
winter tire made by Nokia, the Hakkapeliita. Reputed to be the best winter
tire made.

Ya, I saw them as sponsers of something-or-another on TV a while ago.
"Hankook".

Now, I'm sure Mr. Hankook is an honerable patriarch, but SOMEONE should have
had the stones to say in one of the first mgmt meatings at Hankook USA, Inc.
"Ahem!  We're gonna get ridiculed for generations here with a name like
that.  Do you KNOW what a kook is here?"
