         Actually,  it is pretty much standard procedure for most of the 
sportbike industry.  Remember,  most of the current sport bikes have 
nickel-silicon over aluminum bores.  Proper break in for a rebuilt race 
motor uses a case of oil,  three filters,  assembling the motor with dry 
cylinders/rings,  hand turning the motor on the stand and letting it 
sit,  two heat cycles on the stand, and a coupla three heat cycles on the 
track with progressively higher rpm/throttle usage and a coupla three oil/ 
filter changes.  Or else,  build it,  cycle it on the stand once or 
twice,change the oil, take it out on the track/street for a session or two 
at light to medium load,  change the oil,  and then let it rip.
