I've gone from a 6" to a 7" and finally a 8" wide rim on my '91. The same tire, different rims.
I'd have to say that as goofy as the 6" looked, it was a great granny setup for ride. :) the extra
inch made a world of a different, esp in and out of turns. the additional 2 inches (summing up the
8" wide rims) were definitely the trophy winners in straight aways and aggressive cornering. I had
225 50 16 S-02 Pole Positions that happened to such on the 6" rim and gradually improved as the
width increased. Easy to mount, inflate, and lovely to stare at. I'd say a 7.5" rim would also
be a ideal for a 225 series, but wouldn't run a 235 on anything more narrow then 8". Tire overlap
has to be the the biggest bottleneck in nearly all vehicles. Even 1/2 an inch makes a twisted
difference. My buddies '02 WS-6 LOVED the addition 1/2" for the 275s. It cured his sluggish
cornering and increased his mid range traction.
