The only time I used 2nd (and that was may 50% of the time) was out of turn
7, to give me a bit more hitting the long straight. The rest of the time I
was in 3rd. The only places that 3rd gear was a bit doggy was coming out of
Turn 1 and Turn 7.
I wonder how much it really matters for lap times, though, as I feel that I
do smoother corners when I don't have to shift. In going around with Tim
Pavlik, he said he always runs Blackhawk purely in 3rd gear, and this is
with his basically stock '91+ (only 73mm C&L and a Borla, which keeps him in
a stock class).

I meant to ask some folks about that, if they used 2nd gear much. Looking
back at the video's I wonder if I could have tried 2nd on the backsight
"tight" part of the course. Don't think I dropped below 3800 rpm or so in
3rd much though, and the 3.2L makes pretty good torque from there so I just
ran the whole course in 3rd with 4th on the front stretch for a brief stint
anybody else used 2nd gear much? I suppose tires makes a difference, as a
track tire'd car is gonna have a bit more corner speed (keep the mph/rpms
wound up a little higher)
