I can think of one good reason to do it, and that is they wouldn't have
had to have their manufacturing people have to worry about engine mix in
their build plans given that the engine is probably the longest lead item
to plan for.

I thought I remembered reading that Ford wanted to maintain crank HP
parity between the two variants.
