[Shotimes] MAF connector question

Jon, Since you don't have all the history, Ron did a great job
summarizing the past roughly 8 years of what's transpired in this area.
A lot of people tried the C&L and many had real bad problems. Some didn't
have any problems. It seemed like too much of a crap shoot at the time I
made my buy decision to risk getting a MAF and then having problems.
And so I have the 77mm Pro-M MAF. A lot of people here do. No one I can
remember ever had anything bad to say about this MAF. I do have one
gripe, and because of this I wish I had bought the 75mm unit to bolt up to
the stock air box, but my testosterone got the better of me. For years I
was running the 77mm without properly plumbing air from the fenderwell.
The only real solution for this is to get a SHOShop can, which I finally
did find, so I am all set now.
So while I read with interest what C&L had to say about their MAF as
compared with the original Ford 80mm MAF offered by SHOShop, they avoid
direct comparisons with Pro-M. And since the Pro-M 75mm is a drop in at a
buck 80, I would say that is the best "low cost" MAF upgrade you can get.
Finally, I had bought an LPM to go with the MAF as a companion, but not a
required add-on. Getting the chip to work properly with my 77mm has been
a little tricky. I'm going to attempt one more shot at this using a dyno
to obtain the A/F ratio. At the present time I am not running the chip.
Cheers,
