[Shotimes] exhaust stud?

Yep, I broke all 4 studs!!

When drilling them out, your hopes for saving the threads are about nil.

Look at my site for the GM studs I used under the Rod Bearing Job:

Using 3" studs would make it easier, but the 2.5" do work.

Basically, I put a nut above & below the stud to hold it to the manifold,
then the third stud holds up the y-pipe. The original threads in the
manifold were drilled out and were obviously worthless.

I just broke off an exhaust stud on the front manifold, trying to get my
damn SHO shop equal length y-pipe off. How hard is it to remove the
front manifold while the engine is in the car so that I can get it to an
exhaust place to have a new stud put into it? Also is there a particular
"better" stud to use. I remember reading something about a GM stud that
someone out there used, but it was a while back and I'm in no mood to go
searching for it.
