I'd love to work on a c130. I got the pan down with some advice from Jim
via the telephone. The bad thing is that I love talking to SHO ppl that
I spent an 30min on the phone. Glad that I have lights and nothing to do
tomorrow :-) I'm really shocked at how clean the underside of my engine
is. I'm running out to the store to buy some batteries for my digital
camera, cause this I gotta document for my self.
On a sad note though I did find 4 visable flakes of bearing metal in the
bottom of the pan. I'm sure glad that I have that AMSoil bypass filter
on my car, cause who knows where all the smaler pieces might be.
Hmm this is too much fun now :-) Anyone in the northeast wanna pay me to
do their rod bearings? I like this.

Bruce,
I just did that 2 weeks ago. The pan should move a
little when you pull on it because the rtv stretches.
I figure you haven't removed the impossible nut back
near the clutch. Once you are sure you have all the
nuts and bolts off, there are little things that jut
out from the top of the oil pan. These are all near a
flat surface on the bottom of the block, perfectly
located to pry with.
I couldn't get mine off by pulling either.
Maybe you should count the nuts and bolts and get back
to us. You really don't want to break the oil pan.
I used to make fun of the aircraft mechanics I worked
with that broke the tail off of a c-130 instead of
removing that last bolt. Since I started working on
the sho, it's still a funny story, just not as funny
as it used to be.

Ok next question. How the heck do I get the oil pan to
drop. I was just
holding 90% of my weight from iut and it won't budge.
And I am 110%
sure
that I have all the bolts and nuts off it. Any
specific way of doing
it?
I can call one of you if you find it would be easier
to tell me over
the
phone, I love unlimited long distance calling.
