Yes i think your right. i am going by the registered speed on my Monitor
when downloading and the symbols are confusing in this regard. jim

You're talking 2 different things.
DSL speed is quoted in kbits per second, i.e. 500 kbits per second. When
you download through internet explorer you get a reading of kbytes per
second, and 50kbytes per second is par for DSL. I used to know the
conversion when dealing with a modem, considering data bits, stop bits,
etc., but I don't know how similar it is for internet transmission. I get a
little better than this with my home cable, and about 4 times this at work.
