Serious??? In the almost 4 years I've had my '89 all it's ever had to drink
is Sunoco 93, and the best I've ever gotten out of it is 25 mpg (all highway,
18-19 in town).
Admittedly it runs like a bandit (it has new plugs, wires, etc).
Maybe with the rising gas prices I could save enough for an extra cocktail or
two a week for myself if I pour in the 87 octane...hmmmmmm...

Bottom line is......something isn't right.
Yes, it could be pinging. But, what if higher octane doesn't fix it? And if
it does, it's a band-aid.
There is an issue, as the motor should live happily ever after on 87.
