[Shotimes] there arose such a clatter

I thought that you couldn't even get anything beyond 91 in CA anymore.

As this discussion started, a basically stock SHO should run just fine on 87
99.99% of the time, if not you have a problem somewhere.

Guess I feel that this may not apply to CA, as I understand that CA has some
of the poorest, and most inconsistent quality, gasoline anywhere.

You do bring up an interesting point about lugging, though. All SHO drivers
do NOT drive alike. I know Dave doesn't lug his SHOs around town (well, I
hope not!!), but I know that there is a bunch of wimpy SHO drivers out
there, and pinging induced by poor driving habits is definitely not out of
the question.

Then again, there is the pinging that can be heard. My SHO has always run
just fine except on 87 gas. It will ping (without being lugged) but runs
perfectly fine on the 92 we get around here. 87 may work fine on some SHOs
but not all.

Ahh, the infamous "phantom pinging that can't be heard"!!

Well, it's like Santa Claus or the Tooth Fairy.....some believe in it,
others of us don't.

Just remember that the knock sensor works on a sound frequency. Pinging can
be heard over the sound of open headers (BTDT)!!
