With the 3.99 gears I have now I was hitting the rev limiter in first at
WOT. The only way around it was to remove it (AFAIK). It is also removed
from reverse and when in park.

It WILL give you enough rope to hang yourself if you are not careful. Some
folks just like to rev the motor to hear it.
