The former '89 had leaks like that. When I would get out of the car after a
long drive, I could smell oil, but it didn't make it to the ground.

Turned out to be the oil pan gasket was leaking.

The sho engine is pretty amazing -- I was thinking
external oil leaks dripping onto the hot parts.  Mine
leaks whenever I get above 6000rpm judging by the
smell when I get home.  I think it must be the cam
seals.  Keeps the passenger side of the subframe
rust-free though.
