[Shotimes] 80mm MAF failure, ~$price? (HELP)

Right here:

http://pro-flow.com/

Price for the 75mm is at $222 now. I'm sure that Dave will chime in, but I
recommend this route, also. I have had an LPM/80mm in the past that worked
fine for me, and this current '94 had an LPM/80mm setup that ran alright,
but it now has a calibrated 80mm (calibrated by Pro Flow) that does not
require a chip. This setup runs better.

I have UDPs and the idle is OK. IMHO, I cannot see the value of any chip or
LPM in a SHO, unless it has serious power adders that require it. To run an
LPM just to run the MAF is not worth it. In the "old days" (10-12 years
ago), the only MAF options were the C&L 73mm at around $200 (inconsistent
but cheap), the calibrated Pro-M 77mm (very nice, but pricey at $575 or so,
IIRC). The LPM/80mm setup was cheaper than the 77mm, and worked as
well......IF you were lucky and got the LPM set up right.

With the advent of the SHO-specific-calibrated MAFs that don't need a chip,
to me the LPM/80mm MAF combo is outdated and needlessly complex for a
basically stock SHO. Now, if you have serious power adders and need an LPM
anyway, then it isn't as much of a big deal to run the 80mm MAF. Of course,
Pro-Flow also sells a calibrated 80mm MAF that doesn't require an LPM.

IMHO, all that other stuff about higher idle, butterflies opening sooner,
etc on the LPM just isn't of value on a stock SHO. Plus, no LPM means
there's one less thing to cause problems!!

Where to buy the Pro-M? and is the pro-M 75mm that
much better? isn't there an pro-M 80mm too? Just
curious what your experiences and opinion were.
Thanks Dave.

Lastly, why do you dis-like the 80mm MAF and LPM?
Cons? Pros? What about my other features, like
adjusting richness / leaness, or my 1000K rpm idle(I
have UDPs), and the tip-in on gas-pedal, etc... dunno
what else it does.. :)

Thanks Dave.
