I heard somewhere that Synthetic oil will wear parts faster. Cant remember
who and when though.

Yep, I agree with that, and said so at the first.  Never
said that oil changes were a guarantee, but part of a plan.

But regular oil changes are a better thing than leaving in
dirty oil(properly filtered synthetic is another thing and
NOT a bad thing) which, as I said, HAS to increase wear on
all lubricated parts.  No way it can't.  Synthetic also
isn't a cure-all for this type of failure.  But it also
doesn't contribute to it, and can help reduce wear overall.

I have seen SHOs, something like yours, that are pretty well
cared for that used HUGE amounts of oil early in their life.

Again, I think luck of the draw on parts may be the best
explanation.
