    Just curious, why (especially since you like the car and plan to keep
it) would you keep driving a motor for 2 months that was knocking?

Regardless of what you decide to do to the new motor, do it with the motor
out and do as much as you can afford (seals, bearings, 60k, etc).  It's real
easy with the motor sitting on a stand (as opposed to doing it later while
in the car).  Good luck!
