[Shotimes] RE: supercharging

Guess you didn't bother to read through my posts, as I stated in an earlier
one that a turbo 911 would be one I would consider. As well as a WRX as my
next daily driver, and I like the S4s, although other cars are as good for
the money.

I'm an N/A guy, I am not predisposed toward buying a supercharged or a
turbo factory car if there is comparable performance available N/A. I would
probably never add an aftermarket supercharger to a car, and would most
certainly never add an afermarket turbo to a car.

I am not a multiple SHO collector, I already have 4 cars and a motorcycle
that don't fit into a 3-car garage. I have been driving SHOs as my daily
drivers continuously since 4/3/89.

Hate to call you a liar, but after reading "Plus, all the BMW and Porsche
meets I have been to make me want to pull my hair out. Most of those
elitists (not all I know) have nothing on the SHO community". Sorry, I don't
believe that you have EVER been to a BMW or Porsche meet and if you have,
you didn't talk to anyone. As in the SHO community, there are those who buy
& drive cars when new, then there are the enthusiasts who buy/keep/still own
older cars and join clubs. In general, I have found the PCA members in my
clubs (having been a member for 6 years now), and my buddies who are in
BMWCCA, and former SHO owners who are in BMWCCA, to be much more
car-knowledgeable, more mechanically experienced, as well as having more
track experience. The SHO society is a great social group, and knows the
cars, but I find that there is a greater body of knowledge available in PCA.

The thing that pisses me off, and it is something that another lister
mentioned about F-body and Mustang clubs, is the attitude that "I love Car
'X', therefore Car 'Y' sucks compared to mine". When I hear car-bashing
because someone is at a point in there lives where they can't afford a
particular car and/or the insurance for it, it is especially annoying and I
take it to be a sign of gross immaturity.

I am an automotive enthusiast. Currently the SHO, my wife's Del Sol, the '84
911 cabriolet, a '79 Yamaha XS11 Special (1100cc), and an '88 Fiero GT are
around the house. I have owned many cars and motorcycles over the years.
Although I've been into SHOs for 14 years now, I still appreciate any other
performance car, and currently have a number of cars on the radar screen to
become the next daily driver (3-series, WRX wagon (like it better than the
sedan), SVT Focus 4-door, used 540i)

> So turbo = rice in your opinion? Curious. I will let the next TT Porsche
owner I see know that. Oh, it comes with a turbo stock, so that doesn't
matter? Then the guys that spends tons to turbo thier Vipers, Vettes and
Mustangs. And no...I will not learn...because I learned a long time ago
that I will never have the quickest/cheapest car. Heck, for a few thousand
you can build a Fastiva that does 10's. 'At the end of the day, you are
still driving a Festiva' blah blah blah. Sorry, but the ONLY BMW's that
have any appeal to me are from the last few years. I would LOVE a late
model M3 or M5, no doubt, but even at 27 with an immaculate driving record,
the insurance would kill me, and there is no way I could afford the purchase
price on a firefighter salary. And don't worry Ron, impressing you, or
anyone, is not my agenda. I got the car because I love the SHO. At the end
of the day, I see no disgrace in driving a Taurus. BTW, are you saying you
have got around to app!
> reciating a good, quality product? And how many SHO's do you own? Again,
curious. Plus, all the BMW and Porsche meets I have been to make me want to
pull my hair out. Most of those elitists (not all I know) have nothing on
the SHO community, and that will keep me coming back long after I have
'grown to appreciate a good, quality product'.
