[Shotimes] A quick one for all the aftermarket stereo guys....

I agree with George on this one, old speakers just suck! Right now in order
to get high freq out of my system I have to have the Treble maxed out. I
also have to increase the volume setting to almost 3/4 to really hear, 1/2
is what I used to have to use when the SHO was "new". I bet the
sensitivity of the OEM speakers are on the low side for speakers, MB Quartz
units would help tremendously!

Without a doubt the first thing to be changed should be the speakers. The
factory
speakers are very simple affairs, with one coil, one cone, and a 'whizzer'
cone
glued to the center of the big cone. (Even the upgraded JBLs.) This
whizzer cone
will increase the high frequencies produced to a small extent, but when a
base note
comes over the big cone, the whizzer cone vibrates along with it, and you
get a
chopped up high note. Imagine Karen Carpenter singing the first line of
"Ticket to
Ride", when the base note from the piano starts up.....it just TOTALLY wipes
her
voice out....you gotta have crossovers and separate tweeters to get any kind
of
medium or high frequency fidelity. The head unit and the amp are certainly
not the
best, but the speakers are the worst!!
