Absolutely correct. They don't have separate tweeters, in the case of our cars when
they were new....when I replaced just the speakers in my Turbo Coupe I was AMAZED at
how cheap the 'high end JBL' speakers were. I put a locally packaged separates
system with crossovers in it, and rest of the the factory electronics were darn good
for a long time. The cassette deck finally died for the second time, and I went to
Pioneer after 4 years. Any factory system older than about 1995 had to have the
treble all the way up to have any range of sound, especially for my half century
plus old, jet beaten ears.

I had always liked Infinity Kappas for the cars, but when the 4 Seasons blew out my
63I door speakers, I went with MB Quarts, keeping the Infinity 693Is in the back.
They are in it now, and I'll put it up against any system out there for trueness and
clarity of the sound at normal or slightly louder than normal listening levels. Don
Mallinson heard it without the Quarts, and I invite him to listen to it again in
Madison. I don't know what kind of subwoofer it has (just need to look!), but I'm
getting two more like it for the other two cars.
