Charles, Like Mike, I kept my stock springs and went
with the Tokicos on my Gen1 just a few months ago.
Replaced the front strut bearings, SFB's(Gen3 rears
all around), rear mounts, and rear sway bar links,
too. The rear struts were shot(I don't haul stuff or
rarely carry passengers) but the fronts seemed to be
in decent shape. The result is a controlled ride with
responsive turn-in and less dive and body roll. I
hate to use "stiff" as a description but it is stiffer
than what I had, which was crap! The SHOtimes web
site states that stock struts are gone after 60k and
having seen the condition of mine after 112k, it's not
an exaggeration. I was too chicken to try to do the
Koni inserts(I've never done any of this kind of work
before!) but I hear the ride is better than the
Tokicos at the softest setting. George Fourchy is
also willing to answer any Q's you send his way.
Thanks for your help, George!
