I don't think that the Aerostar ever came with a T5 manual trans as an
option. I just got in from work so I am going from the top of my head so
I may not be correct either. I think that the trans found behind the RWD
3.8's (SC, 6 banger stangs) is the T56. The V8 stangs used T5's. I think
that the aerostar bellhousing allows you to use the V8 T5's behind a SHO
motor for a RWD setup.
