[Shotimes] Radar/Laser Detectors

Just to clarify......I don't "hate" the Val-1. I feel that it is a very good
detector, BUT it is overpriced for what you get, because:
1. The extra sensitivity is not useful in real life......good for looking
good in tests, not practical otherwise
2. The "arrows" are a gimmick.
I have even recommended the Val-1 to people who have never had a detector,
or rarely use a detector. If you get to learn your detector, the Val-1 isn't
worth the extra $100, IMHO. Plus, I feel it's too damn big.
FWIW, I have been using Escort products for 20 years now (since 1983), and
currently have a relatively new Solo.
I have said in the past that the Val-1 would have been a great detector up
until maybe 10 years ago, but in today's world with laser, low-powered
instant-on guns, VASCAR, and cops that are MUCH better at using all of the
above tools, the effectiveness of ANY radar detector is much less than it
was prior to the early-mid '90s.

Oh lord, if you REALLY want to set Ron Porter off, just
start talking radar detectors.
I like the Valentine 1, like the ad says, once you live with
the arrows......
Ron Porter hates them, each to his own, but I can locate
WHERE the threat is with my VAl 1, and no other detector can
do that, besides, it has been proven time and again, that
the Val 1 is the best "detector" out there, if you covered
up the arrows, it would still be the best one.
