[Shotimes] ATX OD

Yep, when I had the '99 with the ATX, I would tend to leave it out of OD
until I was doing 50+ mph, much like with an MTX that will never see 5th
gear until 55 or better. I never drove the '99 that easily, but it was still
a bit annoying to have the TC locking up at low speeds, even in 3rd gear.
I also go by the "2K Rule" for any manual tranny.......I drive in a gear
that keeps the rpm at 2K or better.

In general, that's what I recommend to new SHO owners, most of whom I talk
to have
MTXs. I suggest they find a gear that keeps the engine going 2000 rpm, more
or
less, at any given speed. That'd be for 20 or so mph, 2nd gear... 30 or so,
3rd
gear, etc. That keeps the revs at around 2000, and so doesn't lug, and also
doesn't waste gas, as well as giving you some torque if you need it for
gettng out
of trouble, if necessary.
When I do drive a car with ATX....the Slorider or the departed Sable wagon
or CV, I
keep it out of OD in town, to do the same thing....save gas, but save the
bearings,
too.
