[Shotimes] lost MPG due to fuel pump?

This would indicate leaky fuel injectors. If there is already fuel in
the cylinder, and you try to start it with the fuel injectors still
spraying fuel it becomes flooded; too much fuel in the cylinder. If you
then fully depress the gas pedal and temporarily disable the injectors
the engine's able to use the fuel that's already in the cylinder without
you flooding it with more. Thus the car starts.

That's about how I figure it, anyway ;^)

I've noticed the same thing with all 3 of my SHO and all my friends SHOs
also. If the fuel does shut off, why does it start with it floored? My
car doesn't stall on its own, it's only if I didn't hold the key down
long enough.

My '93 will sometimes stall at initial startup. If I don't floor it, I
will be cranking till the cows come home. Floor it and it starts just
fine. For whatever reason.
