If you want to get rid of that raspy tone, you definitely want to keep
the resonator. You might even want a bigger one. After putting on
my SS y-pipe, I noticed an increase in raspiness. I had a local shop
put a much larger resonator on and it got rid of quite a bit of the
offensive noise.

Subject: [Shotimes] exhaust questions
Just found two holes in my 2 year old Dynomax mufflers. I don't like the
sound of them anyways, so I was looking for some suggestions. Talked to a
muffler place here and they said elimination the resonator and perhaps some
MagnaFlow mufflers would be good for the sound I'm looking for. I'm looking
for a deep tone, more like a Mustang. I know I'll never get the Mustang
sound and I completely understand that, I just want a deeper tone without
the ricer sound at the higher RPM's. Any suggestions on the resonator idea,
and mufflers? Thanks alot, I know this question has been brought up before.
