I agree. In the time it takes to look at a display, recognize a number, and
formulate the thought to switch gears, you could already be in the proper
gear. I HIGHLY suggest you take the small amount of time it takes to learn
your motor's rpm's at speed in first, second and third. You can get by with
just learning at what speed it's no longer feasable to switch into a given
gear. To do this properly, you need to have a good idea of what speed you
are at by sound and feel, because having to look at the speedometer will
defeat the purpose. If you can't do that, then this "Gearing for Dummies"
light might be the thing for you ;)
