A co-worker of mine swears he knows someone that converted a Taurus to RWD
and put a small block Chevy in it.  I haven't seen it so I can't vouch for
the authenticity but he's adament it's true.  If guess if a 5.0L will fit
in a Focus, it is possible.

I don't think doing such a transplant will make me happy in the long run...

therefore, I am using the 5.0L engine, rear axle, and Borg-WArner T5 off of 
an 89 mustang GT to power my old 92 taurus SLO.
I have yet to see anyone who has done a RWD taurus, and upon closer 
inspection and making a couple measurements, it is possible.
