OK, I've got a weird one. Driving down the road, I heard a light, scraping
noise. After a few minutes, I discovered the speedometer was the source. When
the noise occurred, typically around 60 mph, the needle would jump up about
10-15mph and stay there until the noise stopped. The speedo acted normal
otherwise. The only thing I could think of that could cause the needle to
increase it's reading but not change the calibration would be a piece of metal
getting caught between the magnet and pickup, which could also cause the
simultaneous scraping noise. Anyone got any other ideas?
