My 97 had Yokohama S306 tires on it when I got it. I just discovered that one of them has enough wear on the inside edge for a bit of chord to show, so I have to get new tires QUICK. I am interested mostly in wet performance. I rarely drive on snow or ice, and most of the tires of this type that have good wet performance seem to do well enough in dry also.
My local Discount Tire has a few likely candidates, and I thought the Yokohama YK420 looked pretty good, for $132 each. I like to look at the offerings, tests and comments on TireRack, but this is a new tire and they don't list it yet. I don't think I have enough time before I have to travel this weekend to get tires shipped in from TireRack. The only other choice at Discount Tire that I would consider is the Michelin Pilot XGT H4. I have had Pilot XGT V4's in the past and liked them. I don't know how much difference there is with the H4 vs. the V4.
With TireRack I have the additional choices of BF Goodrich Comp T/A VR4 or Yokohama AVS dB S2.
I'm inclined to go with the Yoko YK420, and wondered if anybody had any experience with them.
Just by coincidence, the tires on my 90 SHO are also worn out so I have to have new tires for it also. I'm not driving it much and will either sell it or give it to my daughter to drive. I can't bear to put junk tires on it so I am considering the same Yokohamas, or maybe something a little less expensive like the Dunlop SP Sport A2 or SP Sport 5000. (It's tough to compare prices when you look at Discount Tire where they have more of a "final" price vs. TireRack where you have to add in shipping, mounting, and balancing on top of their prices.)
