[Shotimes] AC clutch

I would just replace the clutch. No snap rings, to deal with, no
hassle. Remove the center nut, use two thin screwdrivers to pry the
clutch off. Be careful not to loose the two spacer washers. Pop the
new clutch on and tighten it back up.

Probably best to remove the battery and go at it from up top, but I
think you can do it from either direction.

Subject: [Shotimes] AC clutch

I'm about to replace the AC clutch on my 92. I have Helms plus the
instructions that came with the parts. It seems pretty clear. Just
three
questions:

--- It appears the "clutch" action is actually metal-to-metal contact
between the hub and pulley. Am I missing something? Really? Metal to
metal?

--- What items will I need to remove to be able to get at the
compressor? Should I go in from above or below?

--- I have no reason to think there's any problem with the field coil.
But the kit I bought does include a brand new coil. Should I do the
coil as long as I'm in there, or leave it alone?

Thanks.
