IF the car runs and drives, you got a decent deal. the
onlyh thing is the cost to put it in "good" shape.
It can easily cost $3000 or more to put things right in a
SHO. Suspension, brakes, clutch, A/C are the things most
cars like the one you bought need. If you can do all that
work yourself, then you got a bargain. if not, then you
paid too much.
For $3000 you should be able to buy a SHO or other car that
is in very good running condition and doesn't need any
immediate attention.
The SHO isn't necessarily MORE expensive to fix than other
cars, it is just that the SHO is more likely to be bought by
a young person looking for Mustang performance at Sedan
insurance rates! Once they discover the maintenance
requirements (and this would be true for almost any car that
needs work) they just let it go and dump the car. The next
owner gets the problems.
These can be fun cars to work on and enjoy, or a money pit.
Most are good, some are real bad, just like any old used
car. Your SHO is going on 15 years old. Any car that old,
that hasn't been kept up will be a money pit.
