Sort of on the same topic:

I was looking thru a book, "History of Ford" or something, and it had a
picture of Ford CEO ??? (Lutz) standing next to the Taurus at an early 1985
car show.  The grille on this pre-production Taurus had 3 or 4 slots that
went all the way across with the Ford blue oval hovering in the middle.  It
didn't look that bad.  I wonder why they went with the solid grille?  Too
much cooling air flow?  Better aerodynamics?

I also have a few pictures from a magazine article testing of a
pre-production black '89 SHO.  It has the SHO front and rear bumper covers
but not the side cladding.
