Man, hate to seem like I'm picking on you again......
The AVS DBs are all-season tires. ES100s and AVS Sports are not. I went and
read the reviews. Rate "higher ratings" as you will, but I don't see it that
way at all. The AVS DB people say they are "fast & aggressive" drivers (I
think Tire Rack needs different categories!!), but the reviews talked about
"less noise" and other meaningless remarks as such. Blizzaks would be
"higher rated tires if you are talking about driving in snow, but let's look
at reviews that talk about track and truly good street performance, not how
much noise they make!
I'll bet a Budweiser sody-pop that on identical cars the ES100 or AVS Sport
will dance around a SHO with AVS DBs, which is a "good" all-season tire, but
good all-season tires just don't hold a candle to the warm-weather compounds
and tread patterns found in better handling "summer-only" tires.
If you want a great all-season tire, go for the BFG KDWS, the Pirelli P7000
Supersport, or the even the Dunlop SP5000. For as much as I like Yoko tires,
the AVS DB tire doesn't seem to be anything special.

I just put 225/55-16 on my 97 SHO. I did the calculations and figured that
225/50 would be 2 mph off at 60 mph. (Car is going 58, speedometer says
60).
I bought Yokohama AVS DB S2 tires, which had a high rating on tirerack.com.
In fact the AVS DB S2 had higher ratings in all categories than the AVS
ES100 and AVS Sport.
