That's a big key, and why the stiffer gen3 cars handle so different than
the gen1/2 with same bar sizes.
The 89 handled much different than the 92 with the same springs/struts and
bar sizes. Granted it's a couple hundred lbs lighter, but the cage makes
the chassis way stiffer than the 92. The 89 seemed to understeer more (than
the 92) with the stiffer body and the same bar sizes.
Lots of variables though, the 89 is a loose goose when the tires aren't up
to temp, and more-so when you have a full tank at the start of a track day.
You burn off 100 lbs of fuel sitting right in front of the rear tires, which
makes a substantial difference in weight balance. Handles much different
with a full fuel load vs empty.
I like it a little loose, with these things all you gotta do it just breathe
it a tad to set it back up, and get right back into it. When you understeer
you really gotta get out of the gas and get the front set back up, which
kills your momentum. Plus you are usually NOT where you need to be on the
track at that point!
