In my 92 I have a Kirkey Road Race seat. It's an aluminum shell covered in
a thin layer of padding, with a couple of movable pads that can be inserted
under the cloth cover for lumbar and neck support.
It's the most comfortable seat I've known. It did not take long to get it
perfectly adjusted for me. Even on long trips (such as last year's
convention), I am perfectly comfortable for many hours. Kind of contrary to
the way Detroit used to think that "more comfortable" meant softer.
Perhaps the best thing about my racing seat is that I sit maybe 5" lower
than in a factory seat. Key benefit of that is that I no longer have to
slouch down to keep my helmet from bumping into the moonroof. I installed
the seat with brackets from a SLO. To lower the seat, I shaved the brackets
and gave up the fore/aft adjustment mechanism, but it's no matter in a car
with one driver only.
Of course, a racing seat provides ultimate lateral support at the thighs and
ribs. The cost of that is that ingress/egress is possible only with the
wheel tilted up all the way, and even then it's graceless. (Wait, that
might be me....) Racing seats come in one-inch width increments, and it's
important to get that right.

Now just imagine the perfect seat! I sat in a couple of nice road/race
seats at Kenny brown's shop in Indy, some of which I'd love to have just for
the comfort!
