[Shotimes] disable passenger airbag / 1995 SHO

I have to cart a lot of kids around and could really use the front
passenger seat. Unfortunately, I have dual airbags in my '95. I am
following the DOT's official procedures to get an on/off switch, but I'm
afraid it will cost waaay too much.

I believe that, as the owner, I can legally disconnect it. I don't want it
to explode in my face, though. That wouldn't be fun. My mechanic says I
should just remove the fuse, but I'm not sure it is completely disabled
that way. I can order directions to disable it for (!) $85, but that seems
a little steep for an index card saying "remove the fuse".

Anybody have any good ideas?
