I live in the south (where not rooting for NASCAR is a shooting offense!)
and I firmly believe that the entire NASCAR series should be scrapped or a
new true STOCK car racing series should be started. There really needs to
be SOME correlation between what you see out there on the track and what you
see on the showroom floor. and... for those of you picking on the Monte
Carlo in particular... Where is that V8 RWD Taurus??

The way I look at it, it isn't that far off. Nascar and other racing series
started with the plain old Chevy small block. You blueprint it, port the
heads, swap in a few different parts, but it started with the same block
that is in your old pickup. You could pull that motor out of your pickup,
add similar modifications, and build yourself a screamer. It might or might
not be close to the nascar motor, depending on your budget, skill, access to
certain parts, and development time. You can probably do the same thing
with Fud motors and parts. They used to do it with Pontiac but can't do it
anymore.

As for the FWD Monte Carlo, I think if the Monte Carlo came with a V6 and
FWD, then it should have to race with a V6 and FWD. Just see what THAT does
to your new car lines. :-)
