I agree...I'd check this little devil.  With the engine idling, unplug the IAB.  The
engine should quit.  If it doesn't it's bad.  The ones I've seen will be in many
different positions at idle...most too fast, a few too slow.  But the engine speed
WILL NOT change when unplugged.  That's the clue.


As far as the long cranking, try to monitor the fuel pressure while you are cranking
it...plug a gauge into the fuel rail, then crank it.  If it is building up more
slowly than normal, it might be the fuel filter...Lowrider needs a fuel filter and
does the same thing.  A test for this would be to turn the key on, let the pump run,
then turn it off again three or 4 times.  If it starts instantly, it is a fuel
pressure problem.  Now you know what to chase...do the easy stuff first.  Filter,
then the pump items.
