I'm not saying this is the best way to do this, but it's the only way I
know. With 3 express modules, you could give the driver "express down" AND
"express up" on both front windows. I'll give the instructions in terms of
Gen2 wiring; update the wire colors yourself per EVTM.
1. Label your modules LEFT FRONT UP, LEFT FRONT DOWN, RIGHT FRONT UP, and
RIGHT FRONT DOWN.
2. Study your modules. Modules have fives wires. Two of the connector
pins
are heavier gauge, and three are lighter. If you hold the module so that
the heavier pins are on the left and the lighter ones on the right, you are
looking at pins 1-5 left to right. Wire #1 is red, #2 is white/black, #3
depends on year (see note), #4 is yellow, and #5 is black. Strip about 1/2"
insulation from the end of each wire.
NOTE: If your module came from a 92, the center #3 wire will be
light-blue/black. If it came from a 93-95, the center wire will be
yellow/green. Either way it works fine, just be mindful of the colors as
you proceed. The 92 module is actually closer to the wire colors of Gen1
cars. One more proof that 92s have Gen2 bodies and Gen1 souls.
3. Remove keys from ignition. Remove the driver's door window switches.
Pull the switch assembly out from the opening as far as you can; it won't be
much.
4. Find the light-blue/black wire (identified as #400 in the EVTM). A few
inches away from the switch, strip a little insulation from this wire.
Splice into it the center #3 wire on all of your express modules
(light-blue/black or yellow/green). Use whatever splicing technique you
like. Wrap in shrink-wrap or tape to insulate.
5. Find the black wire on the switch (identified as #57 in the EVTM). A
few inches away from the switch, strip a little insulation from this wire.
Splice into it the #5 wire on all of your express modules (black).
6. Repeat three times -- Find the TARGET wire on the switch for the
direction you want to express:
- #333 LEFT FRONT UP, yellow with red stripe
- #313 RIGHT FRONT UP, white with yellow stripe, or yellow with
black stripe
- #314 RIGHT FRONT DOWN, tan with light blue stripe, or red with
black stripe
Cut the wire through. Strip 1/2" insulation from each end. To the
piece of this wire that goes down into the door, connect the red #1 wire on
your express module. To the piece of this wire that comes from the switch,
connect the white/black #2 wite on your express module.
KEEP TRACK OF WHICH MODULE IS CONTROLLING WHICH WINDOW AND DIRECTION
7. Repeat three times -- Find the OPPOSITE DIRECTION wire on the switch
from the direction you want to express:
- #334 LEFT FRONT DOWN, red with yellow stripe
- #314 RIGHT FRONT DOWN, tan with light blue stripe, or red with
black stripe
- #314 RIGHT FRONT UP, white with yellow stripe, or yellow with
black stripe
Splice into this wire the #4 wire on your express module (yellow).
8. Flip your window switch assembly right-side up. Insert the key into the
ignition and turn to RUN or ACC. Verify that the "one-touch" feature works
as intended.
9. Tuck the one-touch modules into the opening in the door cover panel.
