[Shotimes] Now (OT) rollovers

One of the most basic driving skills is to gently let the car slow down, and
gently turn the wheel to get it back on the road if a wheel drops off the
pavement.

It seems like at LEAST once a month around here, someone gets killed because
a wheel drops off, they crank the wheel, and then they dart across the road
into (1) oncoming traffic, (2) the center barrier, or (3) some other dumbass
driving parallel to them that doesn't know enough to slow down and get
behind them when they go off-road.

C&D has done tests with a tire blowout on an Explorer, and had no problems
stopping the vehicle.....even with their hands off the wheel. Brock Yates
blew a rear tire on his Wagoneer awhile back, and pulled off the road with
no issues.

99%+ of this stuff is driver error. On the bright side, it also "thins the
herd"!!

Without getting into the whole SUV debate....I would say some or all of
those crashes COULD have been avoided if the person behind the wheel
actually knew how to drive (was trained in basic car control, etc).
Personally I think what you have to do (or DON'T have to do!) to get a
permit to drive a car is a joke. Ride around a parking lot and park in
between some cones. oooooh. Heaven forbid we teach somebody how to make an
aggressive move at 75 mph and maintain control of the 5000 lb vehicle they
are piloting.
