[Shotimes] Aftermarket KYB Struts?

Just an FYI, the KYB are Black now. And I think they went under redesign, I
was in a 94 ATX with the Eibach and KYB combo and it was STIFF. IMHO it was
stiffer then Terry Huff's car with the Tokikos. I just ordered a set and
installed them in my plus (rear only) with the Eibachs and it is stiff a
hell.

How it will be on the road and track I guess would be another question. Only
testing around the lot here.

If he has the 80mm MAF, he probably has an LPM, also. Just good to know if
it ever starts running funny.

Yeah, the KYBs are weaker than stock, but with stock springs for everyday
driving they are fine. I have to admit that I had Monroe struts put on my
'89 when it was 5 years old with about 90K miles on it, and I felt that they
were comparable to stock (these weren't the Sensamatic, or whatever they
call them now). If he doesn't want to do suspension upgrades, just stay with
what you have.

I'm still in the process of determining what all aftermarket changes are on
my son's 95 MTX. The original owner liked his car enough to do a lot of the
BOS stuff (SHOShop Y-pipe, catback, CAI, 80mm MAF, whiteface gauges)
although in the short amount of time I had to buy the car I couldn't tell
what all was there, and the interim owner didn't have a lot of knowledge
about SHOs. I just discovered the Y-pipe today. Kinda neat to find these
little treasures.

Back to the subject. I remember KYB struts being discussed a long time ago.
They have a gray casing. I assume these struts aren't in the same league as
Konis or Tokicos, right? Anything I need to know about them? My opinion is
that they're okay from driving around in the car. I believe the suspension
is stock otherwise. Given the car is still a mere pup in SHO years and
miles (68K miles), I don't have any reason to change the struts.

Thanks and Cheers,
Carl
