[Shotimes] Officers of the law and your convention trip to Madison

Just got back from Madison. I-35/90 from Rockford to Madison is under
construction with a 55 limit and several cops waiting to write tickets that
double the $147. At least they take Visa!.

I-90 was a mess from O'Hare to Rockford. 10 miles of one lane near
Rockford. The Illinois Tollway rarely closes the thing down to one lane for
long, so this would be open by the convention, with one lane closed only at
night.

Got home early this week because of a bad starter. Parked on inclines all
day and "bump started" the thing. Called AZ yesterday and they had a starter
waiting for me when I walked in at 9pm. Took less than an hour to replace
the starter. The old one dates back to the Atlanta convention, where I
replaced it in the hotel parking lot. Nice not to have to pay anything for
this "lifetime replacement"

> As far as Wisconsin and cops go........

out for late model Camaro Z 28s trying to egg you on, they have them to.
They are laser happy as well.

USUALLY a good high speed run.

> Coming from Dubuque, IA to Madison (on Hwy 151) is a different story.
Watch the towns of Dickeyville and Verona. Dickeyville (just outside of
Dubuque) goes from 65 to 35 quickly and they will nail you. Verona (just
south of Madison) is just thick with laser touting troopers and sherriffs
off to the side of the road and medians. Also, they are making it four lane
from DBQ to MAD so be prepared for construction and your car getting dirty.

Mills there seems to be an odd amount of trooper traffic.

> If your coming out of the north your screwed anyway, you'll hit a deer or
bear before you ever make Madison.

> Also note, speeding tickets are expensive as hell in WI. My 80 in a 65
was $147.50.

frequent in the convoy if you'd share your Depends with everyone! :)
