i know it does sound a little far fetched. the fact is i have seen all the
old parts except the latest problem (the crank pulley) and there is no doubt
that they all were bad. the power steering pulley or shaft was bad, it wobbled
almost an inch to an inch and a half. visually seen the metal dust under the
tension pulley laying on the center bolt, it was also very shaky when moving it
with my hands. the water pump was the same way. the mec a nic stopped at the
house this morning to tell me about the crank pulley. he said that there was a
huge pile of rubber sediment even inside the plastic cover for the timing belt.
the plastic cover was also cracked, and that two of the bolt heads were
completely worn away from the rubbing of the pulley. he said he would only charge
me for four hours labor for replacing all the parts. i guess that's fair. i
still don't have a clue as to why all the parts went at one time. could it be
because of the serpentine belt was being shifted almost an inch and a half
causing excessive wear on all the other parts? the belt was just replaced last fall
when it needed a new a/c clutch, needless to say the belt looks like it was
put through a meat grinder. as for the used parts offered, i will let you know
tomorrow as soon as i see what the mechanic found out today. thanks for all the
input. oh-- will a crank pulley from a 95 3.2 fit a 93 3.2?
