Get a Snell 200 SA rated helmet, not a 2000 M. Yes, they cost more, but they
will be good for any track you ever want to run....at least for another
seven years at least.
Helmet style is your choice/preference. I got my Bell M2 at
www.helmetcity.com a few years ago. Randy's Racemart has Bell & G-Force
also: http://www.randys-racemart.com/index.html
I got a full-face because the helmet doubles as a motorcycle helmet (if I
ever get the bike back on the road!). Bell has a full-face with no shield
for around $250, the M2 is $300. I know that G-Force helmets are a bit less.
Full-face also keeps your chin from whacking stuff like the steering wheel
(for the secondary hits AFTER the initial impact that sets off the airbag).
In any case, I would recommend spending the extra bucks for an SA, rather
than an M helmet, though. Tracks are starting to get more picky about
current Snell ratings as well as the SA rating.

What type of helmet is everyone using and why?
I'm looking at a G-Force open face model for 150 or their hybrid model that
in basically an open face style with a chin bar for 200. Any
recommendations on a good vendor and helmet are much appreciated.
