You might be talking about "Gear Rattle". All transmissions do that (well, the vast
majority anyway) when you are starting out in first gear....it's the sound of the
gears rattling back and forth in direction before they have inertia from rotating,
as the engine transmits each power pulse from each cylinder through the tranny while
you are lugging it (official term, not abuse) as you release the clutch.
