Hey Guys,
My 95 MTX has had a slow leak in the AC system for
about 8 months now. Yesterday I put a 2oz can of
134A oil in it, a can of 134A green leak detector, and
a can of 134A straight refrigerent. I was so pleased
with myself. After charging it with the straight
refrigerent it was nice and cold with a steady stream
of water coming out drain tube. Now today, no cooling!
and of course no condensation puddle on driveway.
I don't have a gauge kit so I may have way to much
pressure in it. I think I'm going to buy one soon.
When I turn on AC it makes a low piched growl coming
from the compressor for a second and then feels
like there is quite a strain on the engine to run
the compressor which cycles on and off every
2 seconds. I live in Florida where the heat is
bruttle and at this time can't afford to bring it
to a shop. So my question is, where are the most
likely areas to look for the leak. It should have
green die all around the leak. If I can I want to
replace parts and bring it to a shop for evac&charge.
And of course I'm hopeing and praying it's not the
evaporator! Thanks.
-Pete
