[Shotimes] Creaky Shifter

This is common with the rod shifter. The shift mechanism
rides on rails that are open to the elements. As the motor
moves, the shifter has to move because the two are linked
solidly by a rod between them.
Spray some WD40 on the area to clean it, then spray it with
some lubricant like motorcycle chain lube that will stick to
it for a while. You will need to do this about once every
year to really keep it quiet.
