I recently replaced the clutch on my 89. I upgraded the fly wheel and put a
stock clutch/throwout bearing in. Things were fine.
I replaced the inner and outter tie rod endlinks, and got the car
aligned...and now I am having the strangest problem.
The car WONT go in gear.
Now let me explain. It shifts fine if the car is moving. No grinding or
anything. If I come to a stop and leave the clutch in it shifts fine. BUT as
soon as I put the car in Neutral and let the clutch out...I have to almost
force the car in gear. It won't go into 1st or 2nd at all, and 3rd is REALLY
stiff. But if I get into 3rd, get the car moving slightly it shift
PERFECTALY! Now there is no grinding when I try to shift into 1st and even
if I let the clutch out I cant shift ie no gear grinding. It is as if there
is some sort of gate in the way...or something. This JUST started happening
2 days ago and it is getting worse.
Any ideas guys?
I need all the help I can get here.
Also...I am going to be headed to San Francisco (from Norfolk Va.) Here soon
and I am going to have to store my Jeep and SHO. Problem is they are going
to have to stay outside. I don't have a garage...sigh. Any storage
suggestions? And do you think it will hurt my car to sit for 8 months un
driven?
