The Max may have had a beam axle, but Nissan did some pretty slick work on
it.  I'm not sure, but I think the years that Nissan put the 4DSC stickers
on the cars (89-94, 3rd gen), it had IRS.  I know for sure the 95 to 03 cars
use the beam axle.  The '04 Max has IRS.
For what it is, the SHO is still a pretty remarkable car.  Especially
considering when it was designed.  It really is a shame Ford let it die.
