[Shotimes] Dampener

So last night I am digging around in the engine bay looking for my mystery 
tranny leak.  (still haven't figured it out)  Any how I notice on the 
passenger side (front of engine) that the dampener that connects to the the 
strut housing and then down by the belts is just hanging limp not attached 
to the engine.  So I took it off and noticed that the connection location 
from the dampener to the engine bracket has come apart and is like stripped 
or something.  Any how it is broken.  What cause would this have in 
drivability/handling?  How is this part sold?  It appears that the bracket 
must come with the dampener when bought.
